What Are Fillings?
Fillings are a dental restoration normally used to restore the function and integrity of a tooth if broken due to trauma or caries. As well as offering traditional silver Amalgam fillings, we can alternatively use a white material called Composite. Composite is not always just a private option and may be available on the NHS on the first five teeth depending on the restoration needed, whereas, molar teeth that require fillings on the NHS would be Amalgam.
Here is an example of an anterior composite filling.

Also known as Endodontics, a root canal treatment is used to treat infection in the center of the tooth. Like a filling this can be caused by external trauma or caries, as well as leaky fillings and is an alternative to an extraction, when wanting to save the tooth.
